Look up and read biographies of 2012 Iditarod mushers
Pick two mushers and create trading card biographies

Research and create two trading cards for Idiatrod mushers using complete sentences and correct spelling

Preparation

Turn on and make sure the netbooks are all working and connecting to the internet
Motivation/Hook
What will you ask to engage the students?
Show students football trading cards and talk about how cool they are/interesting.
Instruction
Explain what you will do.
Include engaging, thought provoking questions you will ask the students.
  • Share outline of project with studetns.
  • We will be going back to Iditarod.com and looking at biographies of mushers.
  • Each person will pick two mushers to follow and chart during the Iditarod
  • Make srue they are your best choice, as you will be tracking them daily for the next few weeks.
  • Think about character traits that would make a good musher.
  • One you find your musher, fill out the bio questionnaire
  • After completing the questions, you may start filling out your trading cards
  • Trading cards must be written in your best handwriting and include the most important information about your musher. EXAMPLE
  • If you finish early, check out the website and the glossary for new terms to add to your ABC’s
